The Hampton Roads Youth Foundation sponsors a variety of initiatives to make real the commitment and promise to community. Our programs are designed to ensure that the youth of our community are provided programs that they could attain educational, athletic and personal excellence.
Hampton Roads All-Star Football Camp (HRASFC)HRASFC targets at-risk children between the ages of eight and fourteen. Since 1997, approximately 6,500 children have participated in the camp. A key element of HRASFC’s success has been the participation of over 20 current and former NFL players. Nutritional education, study skill enhancement, motivational speeches, team building and conflict resolution exercises are all key elements of the camp.
General Scholarships ProgramHRYF is committed to awarding a minimum of $1,000 in scholarships annually. Scholarships will be based on merit and will be awarded to at-risk youths who demonstrate a commitment to performing community service. An advisory board representing various segments of the community will select the recipients from essay submissions.
Food Donation ProgramThrough a partnership with a local food bank, all HRASFC attendees have been given food baskets. The program is being expanded to award 25 food baskets to needy families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
HRYF School PartnersA program designed to support Hampton Roads area elementary and middle school with improving the quality of life for their students. Our program encourages students to eat healthy meals to improve their focus in the classroom, increase student attendance, motivate study to read more and dress properly to encourage positive conduct in school. We have developed relationships with Lindsay Middle School, Robert E. Lee Elementary and many others in the area.
