Two weeks from scheduled start date, NFL players have training camp concerns

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – After 24 years of happy campers on a field, last weekend the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation hosted happy campers on a phone – or their digital device of choice.

“We missed all of it,” admitted Carl Francis, co-founder of the Hampton Roads Youth Foundation. “It was a big loss for us this year, not having that personal connection.”

Francis, along with fellow co-founder Vernon Lee, helped transition the HRYF’s 24th annual Hampton Roads Weekend to a virtual event. It included an all-star football camp and an exclusive discussion with Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, a Hampton native.
